Akila Hill, LMFT – Clinical Director & Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Helping Individuals Heal, Couples Reconnect, and Divorcees Rebuild Their Lives With Confidence

As the Clinical Director at Douté Counseling Services, I oversee and support our clinical team while supervising graduate-level interns with the utmost dedication to ethical, effective, and compassionate care. In addition to my leadership role, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who is passionate about helping individuals and couples create lasting emotional wellbeing and meaningful relationship change.

Therapy for Individuals: Anxiety, Life Transitions & Emotional Wellness

I specialize in working with individuals navigating anxiety, stress, burnout, relationship challenges, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. My approach is warm, grounding, and collaborative—helping clients identify patterns, build healthier coping strategies, and reconnect with the best version of themselves. Whether you’re facing daily anxiety, difficulty setting boundaries, or past wounds resurfacing, I provide a therapeutic space that feels safe, supportive, and empowering.

Couples Therapy Using the Gottman Method

For couples, I utilize the Gottman Method, a research-based approach proven to improve:

  • Communication

  • Emotional and physical intimacy

  • Trust and conflict management

  • Connection and understanding

  • Repairing resentment and rebuilding a strong foundation

I help couples move from disconnection and frustration into deeper understanding, healthier interaction patterns, and renewed closeness. Whether you’re dating, engaged, married, or in a long-term partnership, my goal is to help you feel heard, supported, and hopeful again.

Specialty Services: Conscious Uncoupling & Divorce Recovery

In addition to traditional therapy services, I offer specialized support for individuals navigating the end of a relationship, including:

  • Conscious Uncoupling Counseling – a compassionate, structured approach to separating with clarity, respect, and emotional stability

  • Divorce Recovery Therapy – helping you rebuild identity, heal relational wounds, and create a confident new chapter

Think of it as healing forward—support designed to help you release old patterns, rediscover your strength, and step into a future you can thrive in.

Common Concerns I Help With

Couples and individuals often seek therapy for challenges such as:

  • Communication breakdowns

  • Emotional distance or intimacy struggles

  • Infidelity or broken trust

  • Anxiety, overwhelm, and stress

  • Conflict around finances, parenting, or lifestyle differences

  • Life transitions, identity shifts, or major changes

No matter the issue, therapy can help you break old cycles and create healthier ways of relating—to yourself and to others.
